The (NECO) has officially released the timetable for the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), widely known as Junior WAEC.
According to the council, the examination will run from Monday, April 20 to Thursday, April 30, 2026, setting a clear schedule for schools, parents, and candidates nationwide.
The timetable outlines both practical and theory papers across key subjects including Basic Science and Technology (BST), Mathematics, English Studies, Cultural and Creative Arts (CCA), Business Studies, and National Values Education (NVE), among others.

Important Guidelines for Schools and Candidates
NECO has emphasized strict adherence to examination rules:
- Candidates must present a valid photocard for identification.
- Where there is any discrepancy, the time stated on the question paper overrides the timetable.
- Practical examinations may be conducted in batches where equipment is limited.
- All practicals must end no later than 5:00 pm.
- Simple calculators are permitted, but all electronic communication devices are strictly prohibited.
- Candidates with special needs, including albinos and visually impaired students, are entitled to 30 minutes extra time.
- Visually impaired candidates must use the NECO-approved Braille sheets.
Schools are encouraged to begin final preparations immediately, while candidates are advised to intensify revision and strictly comply with examination regulations to avoid penalties.
