The Lagos State Police Command has deployed personnel across approved centres to ensure a safe and hitch-free conduct of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in the state.

The Commissioner of Police, Fatai Tijani, gave the directive in line with instructions from the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, according to a statement issued on Thursday by the command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) had scheduled the nationwide examination to run from April 16 to April 25.

Tijani explained that the deployment was aimed at providing comprehensive security coverage and creating a safe, secure, and conducive environment for candidates, examination officials, and other stakeholders throughout the exercise.

He stated that officers assigned to the duty had been directed to maintain professionalism, civility, and vigilance, while taking decisive action against examination malpractice, disorderly conduct, and any form of security breach.

The commissioner also stressed the importance of collaboration, noting that security personnel would work closely with other agencies and relevant stakeholders to ensure effective monitoring of examination centres, surrounding areas, and access routes.

He urged candidates, parents, and guardians to cooperate with security operatives and strictly adhere to examination guidelines to ensure a smooth process.

Reaffirming the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, Tijani encouraged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the command’s emergency lines.
