The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has recorded a landmark academic achievement as 16 of its Law graduates emerged with First Class Honours in the latest Bar Final Examinations conducted by the Nigerian Law School.
The institution also produced 58 graduates who earned Second Class Upper Division, further reinforcing its reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading centres for legal education and academic excellence.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued in Ilorin by the university’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun, who described the feat as unprecedented in the history of the Faculty of Law.
According to him, this is the highest number of First Class results ever recorded by the university in the Bar Finals, surpassing the previous record of 10 First Class graduates achieved in 2023.
Akogun attributed the success to sustained improvements in teaching quality, academic support systems, and institutional leadership that have strengthened student performance over the years.
He noted that the achievement reflects the impact of the administration of Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Egbewole (SAN), who has prioritised academic excellence, staff development, and improved learning facilities across the university.
Reacting to the result, the Vice-Chancellor described the outcome as a major milestone not only for the Faculty of Law but for the entire university community, saying it reflects a strong culture of excellence within UNILORIN.
He commended the 16 First Class graduates for their outstanding performance, as well as other students who successfully passed the examinations in various categories, describing their achievement as evidence of discipline, resilience, and hard work.
Prof. Egbewole, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and member of the Body of Benchers, stated that the result demonstrates the strength of the university’s academic foundation and its commitment to producing highly skilled legal professionals.
He further expressed confidence that the Faculty of Law will continue to maintain its reputation as one of the best in Nigeria, citing its strong academic staff, facilities, and consistent performance at professional examinations.
The Vice-Chancellor urged the graduates to uphold the values of the institution as they advance in their legal careers, encouraging them to serve as worthy ambassadors of UNILORIN.
The latest achievement further consolidates the University of Ilorin’s position as a top-performing institution in Nigeria’s legal education landscape, with a growing track record of excellence at the Nigerian Law School Bar Finals.
