Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has cautioned members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) deployed for electoral duties in the state to avoid any form of political influence as preparations intensify ahead of the forthcoming elections.
The governor gave the warning while addressing corps members, stressing the importance of neutrality, professionalism and strict adherence to electoral guidelines during the conduct of their duties.
Adeleke noted that corps members play a critical role in Nigeria’s electoral process, particularly in voter registration, election monitoring and result management, adding that their integrity is essential to ensuring credible and transparent elections.
He urged them to resist inducement, intimidation or partisan pressure from any individual or group, emphasizing that the credibility of the democratic process depends largely on their conduct at polling units.
According to him, Osun State remains committed to conducting free, fair and peaceful elections, and all stakeholders must work together to uphold democratic principles and public trust.
The governor also assured corps members of adequate security before, during and after the election, pledging collaboration with security agencies to ensure their safety across the state.
He encouraged them to see their deployment as a national service responsibility that contributes to strengthening democracy and promoting national unity.
Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) also reportedly reinforced the call for neutrality, urging corps members to strictly follow electoral procedures and report any irregularities through official channels.
The warning comes amid heightened political activities in Osun State as parties and candidates intensify campaigns ahead of the polls.
