The Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the South-West, DIG Abiodun Fayoade, has assured Nigerians that the pupils and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State will soon regain their freedom.
Fayoade gave the assurance while providing an update on the ongoing rescue efforts, stating that security agencies are intensifying operations and deploying all available resources to secure the safe release of the victims.
According to him, the police, in collaboration with other security agencies, have continued to track the abductors and gather intelligence aimed at locating the victims and dismantling the criminal network behind the attack.
The DIG expressed confidence in the progress being made, noting that security operatives remain committed to ensuring that the abducted schoolchildren and their teachers are reunited with their families unharmed.
He appealed to residents to remain calm and continue supporting security agencies with credible information that could assist ongoing operations.
Fayoade also cautioned against the spread of unverified information capable of causing panic or undermining rescue efforts, stressing that security agencies are working round the clock to achieve a positive outcome.
The victims were kidnapped during attacks on schools in Yawota and Ahoro-Esinle communities in Oriire Local Government Area, an incident that sparked widespread concern across the state and beyond.
The police leadership reassured the affected families that the welfare and safe return of the abductees remain a top priority, while urging the public to keep faith in the ongoing security operations.
The latest assurance comes amid intensified efforts by security personnel to end the ordeal of the pupils and teachers and restore confidence in the safety of schools across the state.
