The Inspector-General of Police has arraigned five individuals before a Federal High Court over allegations of hacking into the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) server during the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The suspects were accused of engaging in cyber-related offences, including unauthorised access to JAMB’s digital systems, with the intent to compromise examination processes and manipulate results.
Prosecutors told the court that the alleged actions violated provisions of Nigeria’s Cybercrimes Act and posed a serious threat to the integrity of national examinations.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against them.
The court ordered that the accused be remanded pending further hearing, while trial dates were fixed for continuation of proceedings.
The Inspector-General of Police reiterated the commitment of security agencies to protecting the integrity of public examination systems and ensuring that those involved in cyber fraud are brought to justice.
