Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has announced a significant salary increase for teaching and non-teaching staff at Osun State University (UNIOSUN), raising salaries by 25% and 35% respectively.

During the university’s 14th convocation held in Osogbo, Adeleke emphasized the importance of the institution’s unique tradition of “no-strike, no aluta,” which has contributed to its stability. He stated, “UNIOSUN has established a ‘no-strike, no aluta’ tradition, and it is these that keep the university up when other schools are down.” The governor clarified that this culture is not indicative of oppression, but rather a sign of effective leadership throughout the university’s governance structure.

Adeleke also reiterated his administration’s commitment to the welfare of workers, noting that this salary increase reflects their dedication to both the workforce and the broader educational landscape in Osun State. He expressed pride in prioritizing the needs of educators and ensuring that UNIOSUN remains a competitive and thriving institution.

In response, Vice Chancellor Prof. Clement Adebooye credited the university’s recent successes to hard work and strategic initiatives, highlighting the increase in admission quotas for Nursing and Law programs, as well as a rise in overall student intake from 4,500 to 7,405. These advancements underscore the university’s growth and the positive impact of supportive governance.
