JAMB to prosecute, withdraw result of Anambra candidate, gives reason

Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has vowed to withdraw the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination result of Ejikeme Mmesoma over alleged manipulation of her scores.

Mmesoma is also to face prosecution for allegedly deceiving the public to fraudulently obtain scholarship and other recognitions.

NYSC clears air over nonpayment of June allowance

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has cleared the air over nonpayment of the June 2023 allowance of corps members across the federation.

The management, in a statement signed Sunday by Eddy Megwa, the Director, Press and Public Relations of the Scheme, said “The delay being currently experienced is due to the administration of funds by various banks who are yet to credit Corps Members’ accounts”.

NUC, ASUU fight over varsities’ new curriculum

The National Universities Commission on Friday accused the Academic Staff Union of Universities of misinforming Nigerians on the true state of the Core Curriculum Academic Standards.

The commission which is the regulatory body for universities in Nigeria noted that contrary to assertions made by ASUU, it consulted with relevant stakeholders within the NUS before coming up with the new curriculum.

Nigeria: ASUU, NUC Bicker Over New Curriculum for Varsities

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has rejected the Core Curriculum Minimum Academic Standards (CCMAS) prepared by the National Universities Commission.

The union described the new curriculum as a threat to quality university education and erosion of powers of the university Senate in Nigerian universities.

A statement signed by the national president of ASUU, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke yesterday, explained that it was inexplicable that the NUC pre-packaged 70 per cent CCMAS contents were being imposed on the Nigerian University System, adding that university senates, which are statutorily responsible for academic programme development, were left to work on only 30 per cent.

Naval spokesman Commodore Ayo Vaughan, who debunked the report in a statement on Sunday in Abuja, faulted most of the issues raised in the report.
