First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has reassured the public of the federal government’s unwavering commitment to providing quality education to the younger generation, despite persistent security threats to educational institutions. Speaking during a visit by the Minister of Education, Prof Tahir Mamman, and his team, Tinubu lauded the Ministry’s efforts to recruit more teachers for government schools nationwide. As a former teacher herself, Tinubu emphasized the importance of enhancing the teaching profession to improve the quality of education.

Tinubu pledged her support to advocate for increased teacher recruitment, emphasizing their crucial role in achieving positive learning outcomes. She commended the Minister for renaming the Second Chance School to Alternative High School for Girls, highlighting the significance of dignifying educational institutions.

Despite security challenges hindering girl child education, Tinubu affirmed the government’s determination to provide quality education to all children. Furthermore, Tinubu urged governors to adopt the Alternative High School for Girls initiative and emphasized the importance of providing opportunities for girls to fulfill their dreams.

She also called for the establishment of Adult Literacy Schools and the reintroduction of Technical Colleges to cater to students with varying academic strengths. In response, Minister Mamman outlined the Ministry’s focus on skills acquisition from the primary school level and presented scholarships and bursary awards to support female students and those studying education. The visit underscored the collaborative efforts between government officials to address educational challenges and promote holistic development.
