The Kano State Government has unveiled an ambitious plan to provide free housing for flood victims and enhance educational conditions for students.

During a recent Executive Council meeting, Governor Abba Yusuf announced that the housing initiative will target victims across all 44 local government areas, ensuring they receive safe and affordable homes as part of efforts to mitigate the impact of flooding that has displaced many families.

In addition to housing, the governor highlighted plans to distribute desks and chairs to 220,000 primary and secondary school students, aimed at improving the learning environment. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to education, promising free school uniforms for all Primary 1 pupils and emphasizing the importance of collaboration among stakeholders to achieve the state’s educational goals.

Governor Yusuf also confirmed that the state is partnering with the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation to provide essential supplies and food to flood victims during this challenging period. He commended his Executive Council for their dedication and encouraged them to remain focused on their responsibilities, despite challenges to the state’s progress.
