Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and his Kwara State counterpart AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq have declared Monday, October 7, a work-free day for teachers in both public and private schools to commemorate this year’s World Teachers’ Day.

This initiative aims to recognize and honor the significant contributions of teachers to the education sector in Nigeria and beyond.

In a statement from Osun’s Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, Governor Adeleke highlighted that the holiday serves as a gesture of solidarity with teachers. He expressed his gratitude to educators worldwide and encouraged them to use the day to reflect on the development of the state’s education sector. “My administration will continue to do everything possible to ensure your satisfaction as the purveyors of knowledge,” Adeleke said.

Kwara State’s Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo-Kawu, echoed similar sentiments, confirming that schools in the state would also remain closed on Monday in honor of teachers. Governor AbdulRazaq commended teachers for their essential roles in advancing human progress through quality education.
